    The election of a prior provincial cannot be extended beyond seven ballots. Even in the last ballot an absolute majority is required; however, if it is a postulation, n. 450, § IV, must be observed.

    Revision history
    1. The vicar of the province, or a vicar appointed by the Master of the Order for the election, shall preside over the election.
    2. Two tellers shall be designated in accord with n. 448, § IV.
    3. The person appointed to that office shall perform the secretarial duties. If the election is to be held in a simple elective assembly, the secretary of the conventual council may discharge the office of secretary.

    1. The election itself shall be carried out in accordance with nn. 451 and 452.
    2. The document of election in an authentic copy shall be sent to the Master of the Order; another copy shall be preserved in the archives of the province (see n. 453, § I, and Appendix n. 29).
